Gladius

Vesuvius is a highly versatile, user-filled charge container system for anti-armour, demolition, and EOD applications. It offers two projectile options:

    • Explosively Formed Projectile (EFP)
    • Gladius Fragmenting Projectile
Vesuvius EFP™ uses the Misnay-Schardin effect to explosively form a highly effective penetrator. It can penetrate 60mm mild steel from a 6-50 metre stand-off. This EFP is the larger and more capable version of the Krakatoa SB EFP, providing a highly accurate, powerful stand-off anti-armour / anti-structure effect. The Vesuvius Gladius projectile can destroy thin-skinned targets such as aircraft, helicopters, or factory/IT equipment. It is filled with 348 steel projectiles and designed to produce a linear pattern, hitting the target from a 2 – 50 metres stand-off. The low fragmentation-producing plastic body incorporates Picatinny Rails to enable users to integrate sighting and stand systems.

Due to the mass of plastic explosive required, it is recommended that Vesuvius be mounted for greater accuracy and stability.

Stand options are available to best suit the various terrains and unit procedures.
